Definitely, you'll find the touring forum to be of good use to you. There are a lot of experienced people who've done tours that can hopefully answer your questions.

We've got some randonneurs here too- the one I can think of off the top of my head is Machka (not sure of the spelling)- she has a few posts in the Women's Cycling forum, and I think she's contributed to the Touring forum and the Commuting forum too.
