Once the temp goes low enough that I'm not wanting to ride outside I just hook up another computer to the front wheel. Be sure and find a computer that has a little longer cable. Most now come with shorter cables assuming that riders will mount on the front wheel.

I tend to only do a max of 45 minutes these days and use either music or tv/movie to keep me on the trainer. There are a host of trainer DVD/VHS video's out there to make you work hard. CTS is one I've used and liked in the past.

How do you count mileage when training on a cyclops or similar trainer? My computer functions off my front wheel which is static and therefore doesn't register any mileage or speed. Do you get a second computer and hook it up to the rear wheel, or just take your time on the bike and apply your "average" speed to it in order to get distance?

Thanks, Peter

PS the other real question is how does anyone do more than an hour on a trainer at a time without getting terminally bored!!
