I will say one good thing about spokes: if you're looking for a high end European brand, like Colnago, Pinarello, Merckx, Look, etc. they are probably the best place to go in the suburbs, in terms of selection. They always seem to have a LOT of high end bikes around. Not sure about prices on those, though, as I've always been about function over form.

If you're looking for a stock Giant, Specialized, etc at a good price, they are NOT the people to go to at all. The last time I was there, I decided to play up the naivety, and they tried to sell me a 2004 TCR (aluminum) with 6500 (9 speed) for what the current year's 10speed carbon model was going for. They do have a lot of bright red Specialized E5 frames hanging up around the store, though. I'd give a couple digits for one of those...
