Willems and DeWolf were big rivals when young. Both were touted as the 'next Eddy Merckx'. There was a kermesse or big amateur race on somewhere that was supposed to be a big grudge match. Willems won the race and De Wolf abandoned. All wasn't what it seemed though. De Wolf (well known playboy and smooth operator that he was) abandoned so he could shag Willems girlfriend .....
