Well 1 did and so someone was able to direct her back on track....the other was totally lost with no phone...and it was starting to get dark!
Hmmm...well, one way to help this problem is to have a route slip (not that I'm saying you should have had one, Herb, so please don't think I am). The other thing is, they are ADULTS and if they choose to ride back early, etc., no one can stop them. As far as the phone goes, no offense to any of the riders, but that is just unsafe and foolish, IMHO. So, setting rules is fine, but no matter what you do, you can't control the outcome if people don't come prepared or choose to break away from the group. On Saturday we had at least two groups going - one a little faster than the other. Surely, each rider could have fallen into one of those groups - and if not, then perhaps they will be better able now to determine whether or not they should be riding a 76 mile ride!
