Exage trail SLR and M System shifter interchange?
Here's the deal. I bought a Specialized Rockhopper with M System Exage, and it turned out the frame was rusting out in the seat tube. I recently bought a Bridgestone MB-5 from about the same era. Cantis, steel stem, etc. Will the indexing work on both shifters with other Exage components? The Bridgestone has Exage Trail SLR, and the rockhopper had the M System. The Trail is thumb shifters with friction front/index rear, but I believe the front shifter was changed. The BS had switchable friction/index on back, and maybe on the front, I don't know. Will the M System indexing work the RD/FD without issues? Or is my only option to try it out trial and error wise? Logic would say the cable movement would be the same, but I'm no component expert. The M System integrated lever/shifters would look a lot better in my humble opinion.,,,,BD
If the rear will work but not the front, I could use the FD depending on tubing diameter.....
I forgot to mention both bikes are triple front and 7 rear...To the best of my knowledge..
