Just get a good deep fryer with a proper filter that you wash after each use and replace once every few months. There is nothing that can replace real french frys done in veal kidney fat. Nothing.
I have an outdoor one too. I originally aquired it to deep fry turkeys but have since realized that having parties where everyone just brings something to deep fry is much more fun.
