Ya sure, nothing besides protect your stanchions form being gouged. I would keep them on, they do no harm on. I know before NorthStar at Tahoe opens this summer, I'll pick up some Lizardsking fork proctectors, last thing I want it a rock to gouge my $1000 fork.
