Looking for really good rim brake pads

I'm looking for really good rim brake pads (who isn't ) for cantilever and V-brake. My main concern (and top priority) is stopping power in heavy rain. Also, I would like them to be as quiet as possible. I'm sick and tired of that screaming squealing noise everytime I hit the levers. It irrirates the hell out of me.

So, I search around the Net and came up with two pads that sound very very promising. First, the Delta-Cycle Aztec 2 (V-brake and canti) which has nothing but good reviews at Mtbreview.com. Then there's the Kool-Stop Eagle 2 (cantilever) which also has nothing but good reviews and is even awarded the Mtbr.com Choice Award. Most reviewers say these pads are quiet, durable and work well in wet weather.

Does anyone have any experience with these pads? The Kool-Stop seems to be the best choice.

Another question, about the Kool-Stops; they come in different color compounds. The company states they all work well in all weather conditions but the 'salmon' compound (red/orange color) which they call the Extreme Conditions Compound is stated for wet, mud and dry conditions. Anyone familiar with the salmon?

Also, are there any other pads that I should be aware of?
Many thanks in advance.
