When I want to do some climbing at Cheaha, I drive to Heflin and start there. Ride a couple miles along Hwy. 78 and take a right at the overpass to get on the road to the park, Hwy 281. This road has almost no traffic, and good hills before the big climb up to the park. It might be the road that someone referred to as chip-seal, but it has been worn down some now and not much loose gravel remains on the road surface. You can ride for 45-60 miles depending on where you turnaround to head back the same way you came.
