Two good options. Take US78 east to Skyline. Park at first overlook. Ride to end. Try to make it back. Second option. Go to Michael Tucker Park at the Rail to Trail Head. Head North to Jacksonville. Continue about 10 miles to old rail depot turn right on Mountain Street go to end of at top of mountain. A 2.5 mile climb listed in this months Bicycle as one of the top 100 in the country. Rinse. Repeat. about 1200 elevation gain. Some segments over 20%. I had to tuck my lungs back in when i did it last saturday. Newly paved. No motorcyles or cars. A dream climb. The climb when you return from the end of Skyline drive (Adams Gap) is also listed in the top 100. I have maps if you need more info. Any local can tell you how to get to MT Park in Weaver (3-5 miles from downtown) or the intersection of Skyline drive and US78. Light week day traffic on both routes. Two excellent local bike shops. Wiggs and Fun Wheels.
