Don't bug them too much about it, though. Some irritable mechanics/bike builders have been known to drop a ball bearing down the seat tube, or tie a washer to a string and dangle it down the seat tube when inserting the seat post.
i think that is an urban legend. (at any respecatble bike shop a mechanic would be fired for doing that)
