My only strength is my sprint. If your bike is set up properly and you have practiced sprinting on your own, you will almost always use different gears for your jump (acceleration) and sprint. This won't be true if you are going so fast that you jump in your biggest gear (for example, you are being led out for the sprint and are in your 53x11 going 40+ mph when your leadout man pulls off).

Here are my thoughts on gearing, shifting, and sprinting.

*edit* I also have a post on training for sprints, but it's from a speed point of view, not the tactics required to be in contention in a field sprint.
