I agree that the August heat may put us off of it if we can't get out to the canyon, ride & be off the trail by 10 -11 a.m. But at least it gives me something to look forward to in Vegas...a town that otherwise holds little attraction to me.
The ride up to the canyon (159) is not too bad - it is about 13 miles away from the nearest bike shop. Mild to moderate uphill grade, as I remember. Then the 13 mile ride in the canyon is a slow (mixed with cars and one-way) curvy up and down. The ride coming down is fun.

We had our bikes in our van, so we drove up to the canyon, and rode from there. Then my wife drove the car down while I rode the bike down to LV.
