Yeah I picked up my Trek 6000 at my LBS. They were having a killer deal and got it for only $500. I've taken it on several short trips and just recently one 15+ mile trip. It is performing very well so far. This is my first bike since I was a kid, so I'm not really one to be able to compare this to anything. However, I have had no problems with it so far. The BB5 brakes are great, deore deraileurs work very well, and the front shock does a good job of smoothing out the ride. Hope yours works out well for you as well. Let me know how it goes.
