One of my high school math teachers still remembers me because I could recite pi to 500 places after the decimal point. (I got started with pi at age 12, on an airplane flight back from Hawaii, with "The Lore of Large Numbers" in my lap.) However, a number of folks have memorized it to thousands of places.
When I started working at TSC in 1976, they still had rotary dial telephones, which permitted the geek humor of bracketing the "3" with e (2.71828... ) and pi stickers.
