If the LBS does not have a deal for you, any derailleur from a yard sale, or flea-market, basket case will do the job. Years ago, I used to take two basket cases, make one servicable bike, and give it to a boy scout.
I have a mess of used derailleurs anyone may have for the price of postage.
FYI: I belong to the SEFD - Society for Elimination of Front Derailleurs; I have no use for them.
