So now there was nothing holding the tire bead there. I am just so glad this didn't happen during one of the many descents earlier. My ride was over for the day.
I told some of the riders to continue on with the ride and that I was going to hike down and hopefully hitch a ride back down to Foothill. After a mile or so of hiking a kind fellow in a red Forerunner with a bike rack on top pulled over and kindly gave me a lift all the way to my vehicle.

Other than that, it was a beautiful day up in the mountains.....just wished I could have continue on with the rest of the ride.....bummer...

I was in the tunnel when you had the blowout, it really sounded like a gunshot in there. I didn't know it was you, though, I couldn't figure out where it came from, it wasn't until someone told us at the cafe that you had blown out a wheel that I knew what it was.
I'm glad you made it back safely!
