Madone 5.2 vs Orbea Onix TDF???

Hi all,
Great site here, I’ve learned a lot just lurking around.

I’m looking to upgrade from my 2005 Trek 1500. The 1500 has been problem-free these 2500 miles though.
The choices I’ve narrowed down are the 07’ Trek Madone 5.2 SL or 07’ Orbea Onix TDF. I have rode both bikes only a short ways and like each one. ( I knew that would happen!) The Trek 5.2 seems to have more Ultegra components, but the cost is of course more than the $2400 Orbea.

I was able to flex the Orbea frame quite a lot and it almost seemed like a high speed wobble, while slow riding. I forgot to crank on the Madone to check frame stiffness. I think the Orbea would be more forgiving on a long ride with that flex, but that’s only my guess. Both were 58CM, I ride a 60.

I might attempt the Triple Bypass in CO next summer and I’m not sure if the Orbea with a compact would limit me compared to a Madone triple crank. Some think triples are uncool, but my 1500 triple helped me power up 11,990 ft Loveland Pass CO last year.

Any thoughts or suggestions??

Thanks in advance!
