Bolt on Wheel

My newest acquistion is an old Puch Path Finder 10 spd. The rear wheel is a bolt on rather than a QR. This forces me to carry a 15mm wrench with me everywhere, and I would rather keep the wrench in my tool set (I know I'm gonna leave it along side the road some day). I was wondering if a wing nut would be a decent replacement? Anyone ever do this?
