Back to commuting after a week off. I came in for a bit yesterday afternoon to sort through email and phone messages.

As I was closing my bike box, I noticed some sandwich board barricades leaning up against the wall and I grabbed one to put in front of the bike box to prevent someone from parking their car illegally in front of the box. Happens almost every time I come in on the weekend and I'm guessing it's one of the city employees.

So I put it into place and then I hear "Excuse me, sir! What are you doing with that barricade?!?" It was one of the City Parking employees. So I explained that I've had problems with people parking in front of the box, sometimes totally blocking it. There was a pause and then he said "Oh, you park your bike in the box?!? Well, I never thought of that!" And then he grabbed another barricade and totally blocked off the area in front of the box. "I think I know who it is. I'm going to make sure they don't do it again."

And the cool thing is that when I returned this morning, the barricades were still up.
