I have a campy 39/53 crankset and a 12/25 cassette and I would like to have a little lower gear for a mountain century I've signed up for. I have a short cage derailleur and so I think the 29 tooth gear option is out and campy doesn't make a 27. I don't think that the 26 that they do make would make much difference for me. Does any other manufacturer make any gears that I could swap out on my campy cassette (I hope to avoid buying a whole new cassette). Alternatively, I could get a compact crankset but that is a pretty expensive alternative and I am not sure my derailleur would work with that setup. Seems like someone would make a smaller chainring that I could replace on my crank. Any other options? Sorry for the long post.
