Actually I didn't. I twisted it back, and it was fine (not skipping gears at least). I still use that chain indoors when the bike is on the trainer.

I didn't think about that. I just took the damaged ones out, and put powerlinks on the trail, and honestly I didn't feel like fixing them later.

That day I did a few high toque shifts, but no cross chaining.
All of the failures could be my fault, but I've been riding the same way as did before, and I'm having hard time trying to understand why these last three chains failed.

I had some good, some bad experiences with Shimano chains. I've had less problems with SRAM chains and you don't need a special pin when replacing links.
