Bikes: Techna Wheelchair and a Sun EZ 3 Recumbent Trike

Welcome aboard!

The only issue I would see are the wheels. I'd go with a well built (hand built preferably) hi spoke count wheelset. I run 40 spoke rear and 36 front, but I ride a tour bike. Other than that, you'd be good to go!

I weigh 270 lbs. Any thoughts on weather or not the Giant OCR C2 is too little bike for me?

My goals are long distance cycling, and sprint-oly tri's. I live in Canada so the roads have just cleared for me. I was on the life cycle at the gym since January, and am so ready for the road. I got my old 1990 hybrid tuned-up, and added clipless pedals. I also wanted to change the handle bars to normal "curly" bars, standard road bars, but would cost too much as I would have to change too many components. Not worth it or this bike.

So I thought, cool, the engine needs alot more work then the bike does so I will work on that first. A few days ago, I took it out for the initial "clippless break-in" or the scariest ride I have ever had. Worked-out OK. Last evening, I went to take her for her first real ride to find that the spokes have decided they wanted to meet up with the tube. Bummer the wheels will need to be changed too. So I think I will get a new road bike and then put some heavier duty wheels, and fatter tires for off road stuff on the old hybrid.

I have been on the Giant OCR C2 and it fits. The LBS says "no problem" with my weight. This is the bike I am leaning towards, but I am concerned about the my weight. I would like a bike that I can "grow-up" with and will last.

Background: 40 yrs old, 13 months smoke free, biking was a passion for me 15 years ago, was 294lbs in January 07.

I have lurked a few pages now, and is a great site!

Thank you and I hope to contribute in the future,
Bill
