I've read about plenty of these days happening to others on the forums, and never thought it'd happen to me, but today was my day. I was in a sour mood from work today and was ready for the ride home. It would have been nice to have ridden more than a mile before each of these items broke on my bike. Needless to say, I took the walk of shame today for a couple of miles.
Here's the Paul Harvey version...
1. I was being an idiot on the way out of the office and was mashing like a mad man. I came to a stop sign and my front brake just didn't work. Luckily, I rode the fixie today and locked up my legs screeching to a halt. Fix the brake (something was stuck in the back of the brake lever), and I'm back on the road.
2. Crossed the low water bridge as some kids in their rice mobile came out of nowhere and started racing at me head on. I stopped and looked before crossing the bridge, but they were going way too fast for their own good. There we were, stopped in the middle of the bridge, them cursing at me. I had half a mind to go knock out a headlight, but I contained my rage and walked my bike back the way I came so they could pass.
3. About 3/4 miles down the road, I get a flat. Continuing the trend, I'm out of CO2. Hand pump it is...
4. right as I was reaching the halfway point of my ride, my headphones fell out of my back pocket. To clarify things, I wasn't using them, just had them stuffed in my pocket. They dropped right into the rear wheel and my bike made a wonderful clanging noise. The chain dropped and I left my wrenches in my panniers at home. Time for the walk of shame.
My drivetrain is still messed up. I posted about it in the mechanics forum here:

Anyway, just venting and wanted to say to all of you who have had "one of those commutes", I feel your pain!
