ok doesn't a helmet add like 1 inch to each side of your head? So isn't it clunkier? You can't turn your head as fast, and if you crash your head has more weight to whiplash your neck.
Also my schedule doesn't justify me wearing a helmet, my longest commute is 15 mins riding from home to campus and after that im on and off my bike to and from classes. So i'd be that person with the helmet hanging off my handlebars.
In my mind the people that should be wearing helmets are the pedestrians I encounter while riding to class. Theres already a ban on bikes on campus at my school because of a freak accident 20 years ago that left a pedestrian brain damaged from an accidental collision btween a bike and person.
Yea and the only people I see wearing helmets around where I live are those old men in spandex or logo-ed jerseys riding in thousand dollar road bikes.
