Interested in touring Hawaii? (Oahu)

Well, I'm closer to my first bicycle tour. It will be unsupported. I camped up at a beach this last week to try out some of my new gear (note: I LOVE the Hennesey Hammock!!!). I need to make a new pop-can stove. Learned several things about my gear, so that was good. Made a list of what I forgot...

Anyway... to the point. So, I'm going to be doing my first tour close to home. Here in Hawaii. This allows me to call for backup in the event something goes horribly wrong, or I'll successfully complete an around the island tour.

The trip will be roughly 140-160 miles. Total climbing will be around 4k feet, with no more than 1200 in one day. I'll map out my planned route on routeslip later and post it.

So, my question is... does anyone want to come to Hawaii late April or early May and join me on an island tour? I think this would be a great experience for me to not do alone. Thought maybe someone who has done a self-supported tour before might be interested in a Hawaiian island tour. I haven't set specific dates yet, as my work is fairly flexible so I can work my leave around the time one of you could make it out here.

We'd start and finish at my house, which happens to be about 3/4 of a mile from the airport. This is the most populated of the hawaiian islands, so lots of traffic, but there is still plenty of good sight-seeing. I'd love the company and the experience gained from someone who has done this before.

I'm thinking an easy ride of about 30 miles a day (40 max), so about 5 days. Add a day before and a day after, and it's a week total.

Well, that's it. I've asked. Message me if you are interested. I'll answer any questions you want. Let me know...

Jason.
