They are right next to each other, and both bike friendly.
Decent Bike trails, and Mt Bike area's very close.
Main Diff is cost. Irvine and Newport a definitely more$$.
I have a House in costa Mesa for less than an apt in Irvine.
Laguna Hills is a great town, with lower rental prices. Why commute if you
don't have to?
