A few days later, I was in Sporting Life with a friend and while she was trying on shoes, I was telling her about the bike and the good deal and whether or not I should get one. One of the kids working there overheard our conversation and he said "Excuse me, but I worked at Dukes for awhile and those Santa Cruz bikes are POS's" and he went into great detail about how stiff and unforgiving the ride was and that the reason Dukes had so many was because they couldn't sell them.
I was grateful to the kid and thanked him and he was really great about the whole thing, no bitterness at Dukes or anything like that, he just knew that the bikes were not that great and there was a reason they were on sale. This was in 2003 or so, so maybe Santa Cruz frames are better now but it looked exactly like that one you have linked. So, that is one opinion for you
