Sorry for hijacking the thread.
Mountain bike disc brakes are set up to work with V brake levers. Different amount of pull on the cable. As someone said above this can be solved with Dia Compe 287V levers and you can still keep the "mountain" disc brakes. But at the cost of STI lever/shifters.
