I heard that the sidewall seperations are from running the armadillos at two low a pressure. Rec. PSI is ~110 for those things, but it's really hard to check by hand if they're low, since the sidewalls are so stiff.
I had only one flat on a set of armadillos, but the ride and traction were so bad, that i was delighted when they finally wore out and i could justify replacing them.
