The seals have a lot of surface area since the bearings and crank spindle are so large. No problems with the way you describe the amount of drag. And don't worry about the rubbing sound. It's just the plastic bearing shield on the inside - noise will go away.

Spacers? I didn't use any, plus the BB did not come with any so I'm at a loss on that one.
