Man, everybody runs higher ratios than me.
I tried 1:1 for a couple of rides, but it just wasn't working. I would stall out on climbs, and I thought my kneecaps were going to pop off my legs. I switched to 32x20, and I'm back to staying with/ahead of the gearies. I run a 42x16 for winter commuting, and I can climb the hills to my house with aplomb and some body english.
