You may want to consider the Cannondale Roam for touring. I used 'em for thousands of kilometers last summer and they're basically perfect for cycletouring. They are also available in larger sizes, up to 14, which I wear and they were the biggest I could find. The fit is a lil' snug, so you may want to go up a size to be safe. Nashbar will also take them back no questions asked if they don't fit well and haven't been used. The Roams are quite stiff in the lower sole and heel, but flexible enough in the middle to make them great for hiking along with the aggressive sole cleats. They also breath well and can be washed easily, and are fairly durable. I used SPDs with them, which I thought were ideal - the Nashbar clones are pretty good I hear and you can't go wrong for $17. Waterproof shoe covers are essential too; riding for hours with soaked shoes is awful.
