I would respect Fred's more if I suspected they actually realized they were Fred's. However (just like the guys who wear Disney ties), they often have NO CLUE about their own predicament in life. I respect either OCP (me) or Fred's who actually admit it.

Now - a self-admitted Fred who realizes how rediculous they look - I agree - I respect them just as much as I respect nerds who admit they are nerds but say "F&ck it - this is who I am".

In addition - aside from the raised handle bars, I actually like a lot of Fred bikes. They are often so organic, as they are cumulations of parts from years of riding. An old deraillieur here, an older crank there. Nothing matches. But you know what - the bike still moves (albeit with granny gear). But there are no other bikes like their bikes. OCP'rs on the other hand spend a lot of time trying not to stand out.
