I'd be tempted to give 700x28 a try. Not a whole lot different than your present 700x32, but a bit lighter and having a bit less rubber to road friction. A bit rougher too.

Your SX looks like a nice fitness hybrid for city riding.

Until I read the specs, I didn't know it had full road bike gearing 52/42/30 front and 12-26 rear. They have sure changed this bike over the last 2-3 years. It's still a nice bike, but is now more of a higher performance comfort hybrid than a flat bar road bike (that's a bit on the heavy side for a road bike).

If I wanted more performance out of it, I'd think about swapping out the Cro-Mo fork for carbon. I think that would be a better bang for the buck upgrade than buying a new $800 bike. That is, if you feel the need for more performance. For example you mentioned the Specialized Globe IG8. I think the IG8 would be a step backward from your SX - unless you really wanted that low maint internal hub.
