I understand that the official line for rejoining of Campag 10 speed chain is to use their HD-Link chain segment. I can see the potential benefits of having brand new side plates and pins for these jobs. But is it really necessary? I am curious if anyone has done it the traditional way with just a new pin and lived to tell the tale?
