Actually, yes.
However, it was mostly a typical commute. Despite the liquid sunshine, I felt sporty and decided to take the racing bike so I could go for my PB on the way in.
The crosswinds gods did not approve, so I modified the goal to 20mph avg including stoplights. The traffic and stoplight gods decided I needed a bit more humility so they held me down to 19.8 avg. Normally, I'd try to break 20 on my RT average, but projected winds will most likely not allow that.
Even though I've only gone one way, my poor racer looks like I've been using it for cyclocross. I find it strange that the roads get filthy when it rains but they're clean if they stay dry. You'd think that with all the water washing over them, the roads would get clean. Then again, towels get dirty even though they're only used to dry clean things. Go figure.
I'm still enjoying my day. They threw me a party at work complete with the usual trimmings and a gift certificate to my LBS -- much more thoughtful than a plaque, trophy, etc in my mind.
For the commute home, I plan to use up all my legs and use ethanol based painkillers to ease the pain while I spoil myself and the dog with some well-deserved steaks. Life is good.
