Off roaders can benefit from two, because they stop either end of the axle moving forwards (less chance of wheel getting knocked from a hard hit). But one is always advisable for road riders, it makes setting chain tension soooooooooooo much easier. I can understand Familyman's point of view, but a chain tug is hardly a major component, and it can't exactly go wrong. But track nuts, yes.
