Close to SF is Muir Woods (just across the GG bridge) which has some large redwoods.
That pic is a 3+ hour drive from SF. Mariposa Grove, Yosemite National Park. Home of some big sequoias.
Thanks for the tip. I was going to head out of the city north after a few days and probably stick to the coast or head to wine country. I just saw that Yosemite is due east. I'll see if I can come up with an itinerary that will have me go through the park. I love seeing big mountains and big trees. I've seen mountains. I now have to see the trees.
