Being a bicycle mechanic (survey for any mechanic)

If you are a mechanic and you would like to participate in a quick survey on being a bicycle mechanic please visit this site.
Bicycle Mechanic Questionnaire

This questionnaire is for bicycle mechanics. It will help Paul and Ed, two design students/bicycle mechanics in Philadelphia, effectively design a more secure, safe and efficient bicycle repair system.
Design Brief: Bicycle mechanics run into many problems while working that they often overlook and believe to be part of the job. They spend most of their time standing while working which can lead to fatigue of their bodies. Tools in the work area even when organized are hard to find and can slow the efficiency of the mechanic. They are often not within reach. Repair stand clamps require the mechanic to awkwardly stabilize and clamp a bicycle. Modern bicycle frame materials like carbon fiber and aluminum can be damaged if not clamped properly. We will design a universal bicycle repair stand, which increases the mechanic’s efficiency and safety. We will redesign the adjustability in order to hold all varieties of bicycles and organization of the most common tools. Comfort of the mechanic in the work area will be addressed through ergonomic and user research studies. The mechanics area will be considered by offering the stand to be modular.

If you participate we thank you greatly and we will let you know how your contribution has helped us by posting the design we have created.
