TT vs Road frame - how much smaller to go?

I'm currently riding a Soloist 54cm, which translates to a 54.5cm top tube. How much shorter should I go if I'm looking to pick up a TT frame?

I'm looking specifically to purchase a Salsa ElGoGo (sponsorship reasons) and I can either get the
47cm (50.9 cm top tube) or
49cm (53.0 cm top tube)

My LBS said that I could swing either way, although the fitter said he's "slightly hesitant" to put me on the 47.

Competitive Cyclist says I need a 49.9-51.9 top tube for TT, but they also say I need a 52.7-53.1 top tube for road (competitive fit), which seems odd considering my Soloist fits perfectly fine.

The 49cm is what is currently on order, but I can still change the size if I'm quick to act. Should I leave things be? Thanks!

If it helps, here's a photo of me on my Soloist with T2+ clip ons. The stem is as far down as it'll go, and I've had to move the pads back 1cm to get as close as possible to the desired 90degree elbow bend.
