I realize it's been a while, but I just had to say thanks for the help. It turned out to be the location of the anchor point on the dérailleur. It was just a bit further back than it should have been. I didn't think it would have made a difference with as close as it was to where it was supposed to be. But alas it wasn't perfect and it needed to be.
