Ok - I ended up buying the CycleOps Fluid Tempo. I clarified the mystery too. The Fluid Temp is the 2006 model year version of the Fluid2 that Performance bought out in bulk. The difference between it and the newer model is the quick release rachet mechanism for the roller-to-tire adjustment. Same fluid roller mechanism.

I purchased for $220 at the LBS Performance after they price matched.

I am pleased - all in all - after one hour on the trainer this evening.
