Thanks for that, sorry I didn;t get back sooner, been away.
I'm using non-clip mountainbike pedals. I forget the make. THey're big and have a good grip to them, but pretty light.
Like I said, I've never tried any type of clipless pedal, and don;t feel coinfident trying them so soon before a tour. I usually cycle in a lightweight hiking boot (but that's only for day rides). I've got some lighter running shoes, but the soles are pretty flexible and thin, and my foot feels it after a while. I may try a running shoe with a stiffer sole.
I did see some road shoes with the covered cleat area, which felt okay, but it seemed strange having no heel at all.
I won;t be doing much walking, but a couple of days I should be ambling around town, so I want something that's comfortable for walking as well as cycling.
