Soft contact lenses is the king in sports, it gives you much better peripheral vision hence safer. I would never go back to frame mounted lenses.

The problem may be,
1) Dessication by wind. Are you wearing sunnies with good coverage to block it? Extended wear soft contacts may be better as they have a higher water content and less liable to get into trouble.
2) Poor lens fit. Have it checked out by a competent optometrist. Your cornea may have reshaped since your last test and need an alternative geometry.
