Sorry I didn't get to say "hi". That was probably Cothraine, surprisingly steep. I was ridding myself there of a bunch of wheel suckers who had been hanging on for a while. Only one young guy with a UCLA kit remained, which turned out to be good. He did plenty of work into the headwind on PCH. He did have a bad habit of pushing the pace when he got to the front, then pulling off at the beginning of a climb, leaving me to do the work up all the rollers.
Caligirl was in the PCH pace line for a while on my wheel, but when she didn't pull through after I moved off the front, UCLA Guy came to the front and started hammering. I think Caligirl dropped at that point. We pared down to a group of four "big dogs" until we reached Decker. Even so, the headwinds made my PCH ride 4 minutes slower than last year, when I did it solo.
