Yep, AL freehub bodies suck for everything but weight. Looking online, I don't see any options available for a Powertap freehub body -- just a $60 replacement. I think they're all aluminum.
It sounds like the AC clips are the way to go. A quick search didn't turn up any place to buy them, but you can read about them here, then ask your LBS to get some for you: (Search page for "clips")
