Don't need them to put tires on. For removal I just use one Park Tool lever.

I've run 1.5" Specialized Nimbus and NOS '1.75" ' Continental Avenues (they actually work out to be about the same size as the Nimbus due to Conti's running small) on the rims over the last couple years and haven't had any issues
