Remember, those aren't my wheels. My everyday wheels are Shimano R500, or race wheels are Neuvation R28. Junior rules over here make it illegal to use carbon at the moment.
And I work part-time as a mechanic in a bike shop. It is great because I get great discounts and I repair anything on my own bike for free with great quality tools. If you can, get a couple of old crappy bikes, pull em apart, learn how to put them back together. I do a lot of singlespeed conversions and that really helped me with the mechanical skills. Possible upcoming project is a BMC TT03 converted to fixed gear for the track. Keep in mind that the SL01 was put together over 1.5 years too.
Oh yeah, if you enjoy bikes, I seriously suggest looking for a job in a bike shop, it rocks, but its dangerous. We just got in a campy Record carbon UT (we don't normally carry this stuff. Its Australia, cycling population is very small) group and, of course, I want it but retail in aus is $3,000AUD
Oh yeah. It helps to have a good friend who just bought one hehe.
